How Can a Certified Company Apply for Product Labeling after Obtaining Certification?

Many textile manufacturers, trading companies, brands, and other enterprises hold a common misconception: obtaining a GRS/OCS/RCS/GOTS certification allows them to directly print labels or logos on product packaging. According to Textile Exchange and GOTS regulations, merely possessing a certification does not grant direct use of the label; companies must submit label design drawings and an application form upon certification issuance, and only after approval by the certification body can products be printed, labeled, or promoted on shelves.

Complete Process for Product Label Approval
- Prerequisite for Obtaining Valid Qualifications: The company must first obtain the SC Scope Certificate, which is the fundamental requirement for label approval.
- Essential Documentations:
1)Label Application Form: Use the unified template provided by the certification authority for enterprises to fill in relevant information
2)Label Design Draft: The content must include the standard logo, percentage of certification materials, name of the certification body, and the company's license number/TE-ID.
- Submit to the Certification Body for Review: Submit the application form and label design drawings together for evaluation by reviewers in accordance with label policy approvals.
- Once approved, the product will be labeled directly.

Most Common Compliance Pitfalls that Businesses Encounter
- After obtaining the certificate, you can directly print labels and create packaging, bypassing approval from the certification authority.
- After approval, unauthorized modification of label text or content
- For new products, apply the old template directly without re-reviewing
