Release of New GOTS Fee Regulations for 2026
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) officially released the “Global Standards Fees Version 2.0” on March 31, 2026. The update clarifies fees for certified entities, chemical inputs and accessories, as well as GTB-related charges. All certified companies, certification bodies, and chemical suppliers are required to comply with the new regulations.
This fee policy introduces, for the first time, fees related to the newly released GRTS standard. It also explicitly defines a late payment penalty, with overdue payments subject to 10.27% interest.
1. Fee Structure
Entity Fees
- GOTS annual fee: €180 per site
- GRTS annual fee: €450 per site
Standards & Certification Fees
- Single standard annual fee: €50 per site
- GTB Scope Certificate (SC): €15 per certificate
- GTB Transaction Certificate (TC): €3 per certificate
Chemical Inputs & Accessories
- Annual fee: €30
- Minimum annual fee per supplier: €150
2. Key Points to Note
Transfer between certification bodies:
If a certified entity transfers to a new certification body within the validity period of the current Scope Certificate (anniversary date remains unchanged), the annual fee is only required to be paid once for that cycle. The new certification body may only charge the fee if the previous body has not already collected and submitted it to GOTS.
Charges still apply after cancellation:
Once an SC or TC is submitted and issued in the system, the fee is incurred. Cancellation or withdrawal does not qualify for a refund.
Cancellation and re-certification:
If a certified entity cancels certification in one year and reapplies in the following year, fees will be charged for both years, regardless of whether the certification body has changed.
