TE Announces New Standard - Materials Matter Standard
On December 12, 2025, Textile Exchange (TE) officially launched its milestone next-generation sustainable materials certification standard — the Materials Matter Standard (MMS).

Core Material Scope Covered by the First Edition of MMS
Responsible Animal Fibers:
All fiber categories covered under Textile Exchange’s Responsible Animal Fiber framework, including wool, alpaca, mohair, and others.
Recycled Materials:
Recycled fibers and materials covered under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claims Standard (RCS) certifications.
Implementation Timeline

December 12, 2025: MMS standard document officially published.

December 31, 2026: MMS standard comes into effect; certification becomes available.

December 31, 2027: Full mandatory implementation. Until then, organizations may continue using existing Textile Exchange standards to ensure a smooth transition on the global certification platform.
